115 Faculty of Communication and Design: Pablo D’Angelo, professor of Industrial Design; Sebastián Granotich, Nicolás Noblia, and Julián San Martín, graduates of the Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design; María Victoria Scola, a student in the Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design; along with Daniel Appel and Rosina Secondi. Granotich’s Ovi project won first prize in the Student category, Bedroom Furniture division, at the 2016 Salão Design Movelsul Brasil; the Telma project by San Martín, Scola, Appel, and Secondi won first prize in the Professional category, Living Room and Dining Room Furniture division; the Street Fighter project, by D’Angelo and Noblia, won first prize in the Professional category, Outdoor Furniture section. Additionally, the Post project by San Martín, Scola, Appel, and Secondi received an honorable mention in the Professional category, Home Accessories section. February. Pablo D’Angelo, professor of Industrial Design, and Nicolás Noblia, graduate of the Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design. The Street Fighter outdoor bench, designed by the firm Elemento, composed of D’Angelo and Noblia, won one of the CLAP Awards for Best Design in Urban Furniture, Outdoor Lighting, or Signage. November. Gonzalo Barbat, a student in the Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design. His work *Programmed Obsolescence* won second prize in the Emerging Artists category of the Annual Visual Arts Competition organized by the Anglo-Uruguayan Cultural Institute. October. Analaura Antúnez, graduate of the Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design. Her startup ZHÚ was selected to participate in the Global Entrepreneurship Summit 2016 (GES16) in Silicon Valley, a gathering of entrepreneurs and businesspeople where it is possible to obtain funding and support to consolidate startups. June. Paloma Gervas and Natalie Schuch, students in the Bachelor of Industrial Design program; Sebastián Granotich, Victoria Scola, and Julián San Martín, graduates of the Bachelor of Industrial Design program. The Trekant bench by Gervas and Schuch, the Ovi table and the Tresdé lamp by Granotich, the Post bicycle rack, and the Telma sideboard and rack by Scola and San Martín were selected to participate in the fourth edition of SUM 16: Uruguayan Furniture Selection, organized by the Uruguayan Chamber of Design, which features 23 products from 16 studios and independent designers.
