67 PROJECTS INITIATED OR APPROVED IN 2016 Optimization of Storage Conditions for Cheese Starter Cultures Starter cultures are used to initiate cheese production and have a significant impact on the product’s properties. The project studies the technical conditions for the production and storage of cheese starter cultures and analyzes microbial populations using molecular biology techniques. Project Leader: Carlos Sanguinetti Funding: ANII Duration: 24 months Cybersecurity for Everyone The project consists of a series of educational videos aimed at raising public awareness about growing online security threats. In an educational manner, it provides defensive strategies to detect and prevent the various types of fraud to which citizens are exposed, thereby helping to protect them. It was developed with the support of the Canadian Embassy and is available at http://fi.ort.edu.uy/ciberseguridad-para-todos Project Lead: Víctor Paulós Funding: Canadian Embassy in Uruguay Duration: six months Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) Innovation Driven by Demand Aims to contribute to human development in Uruguay by strengthening the entrepreneurial ecosystem in cultural industries. This project identifies companies seeking to innovate, facilitates the selection process for ideas with innovative potential using the Design Thinking technique, and connects these ideas with CIE entrepreneurs and final-year student projects. Project Lead: Enrique Topolansky Funding: National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII) and Universidad ORT Uruguay : 12 months Promotion and Training of Women Entrepreneurs 2016 The project’s objective is to increase the number of women who wish to become entrepreneurs and submit ideas to the CIE, with the aim of generating new opportunities that promote gender equality.
