81 OUTREACH ACTIVITIES 2016 School of Architecture Architecture students created Land Art installations in Grauert Park As part of the school’s outreach activities, architecture students created three installations in Grauert Park in July 2016. These constitute different Land Art proposals for this urban park in Montevideo, taking into account the existing children’s playgrounds. The students researched and applied the conceptual logic of Land Art as a way to transform the landscape for aesthetic purposes, seeking to evoke visual emotions in the viewer as they encounter nature. Twelfth edition of the “Design Your Room” contest In August, the School of Architecture organized, with the support of Radio Disney, the twelfth edition of the “Design Your Room” contest. Thirty-five students in their 5th and 6th years of secondary school from public and private institutions across the country participated. The first-place winner, Sofía Silvera, a student at the Institute of Construction Education (IEC), received a full scholarship to pursue a degree in Architecture or Interior Design, and the two second-place winners, Giorgina Gabetti from Colegio Maldonado and Valentina Vargas from Liceo No. 43, each received a 40% scholarship to pursue one of these degrees.
