117 AWARDS AND RECOGNITIONS 2017 Andrea Pérez Stevenazzi, a student in the Bachelor of Communication program with a concentration in Audiovisual Studies. Her short film *Ese lugar era mío* was selected as one of Uruguay’s five finalists in the Latin American DirecTV Cinema+ competition. February. Regina Miraldo, a student in the Bachelor of Communication program with a concentration in Journalism. She was selected by the British Council to represent Uruguay at the international conference for young journalists, Future News Worldwide 2017, a cooperation program between the British Council and media outlets such as Reuters, CNN, BBC, Facebook, and The Economist. April. Luis Díaz Vitarella, graduate of the Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design. He was among the ten artists selected to exhibit his RomBye show at the Subte Exhibition Center in 2017. April. Daniel Scharf, graduate of the Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design. The poster he created for the Galería Sur in Punta del Este in 2009 was selected for the retrospective exhibition of the Ibero-American Design Biennial at the Museu do Design e da Moda in Lisbon. April. José Pedro Gioscia, graduate of the Bachelor’s Degree in Animation and Video Games. He was invited by UNESCO to present his video game Public Space at the 10th UNESCO Youth Forum, which took place at UNESCO headquarters in Paris. October. Antonio Bonilla, Camila Bonjour, Lucía Correa, María Florencia De León, Santiago Grandal, María Victoria Gutiérrez, Magdalena Hart, María Clara Hill, José Ignacio Perdomo, and María Victoria Ramos, students in the Bachelor’s Degree in Graphic Design program, and Carolina Curbelo, professor of Persuasive Design. The students’ works, created as part of the Persuasive Design course taught by Ms. Curbelo, were selected by the Mexican Museum of Design from among the 541 finalist posters in the “A la muerte con una sonrisa” contest—out of 20,000 entries submitted from 152 countries—and were exhibited in the museum’s galleries in Mexico City.
