118 2017 Yearbook AWARDS AND RECOGNITIONS 2017 José Lorenzo Tocco, a student in the Bachelor’s Degree in Communication with a concentration in Audiovisual Studies, and Carolina Campo, a graduate of the Bachelor’s Degree in Audiovisual Communication. Tocco’s short film project *Bodas de oro* was selected to receive financial support for its production in the first call for proposals of the year from the Film and Audiovisual Development Fund (FONA), administered by the National Film and Audiovisual Directorate (ICAU). April. Likewise, Campo’s documentary project *Tierra de niños* was selected in the second call for proposals of the year from FONA to receive financial support for its production. October. Sebastián Granotich, Nicolás Noblía, Santiago Romero, Julián San Martín, and Victoria Scola, graduates of the Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design, and Pablo D’Angelo, a faculty member of the program, were chosen to present their products at the fifth edition of the Uruguayan Furniture Selection, organized by the Furniture Design Subcommittee of the Uruguayan Design Chamber. Granotich presented the Asia armchair and the Poly and Focus lamps; Noblía and Romero, along with Prof. D’Angelo, members of the Elemento design studio, presented the Ánima bench and the Hagakure side table; and San Martín and Scola, members of Estudio Claro, presented the Fibra chair and the Bezel table. November. Lucia Moreira de los Santos, a graduate of the Bachelor’s Degree in Audiovisual Communication. Her audiovisual project Juana de América was selected by the Ibermedia Program to receive financial support for its production. The results were announced at the Regular Meeting of the Ibermedia Intergovernmental Committee in Costa Rica. December. Bruno Petcho, a graduate of the Bachelor’s Degree in Communication with a concentration in Advertising, Marcelo Sanguinetti, a student in the Bachelor’s Degree in Communication with a concentration in Audiovisual Studies, alongside Nicolás Ovalle. Their startup Spotlike, supported by the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, was among the ten finalists for the EmprendO awards presented by the Café & Negocios supplement of the newspaper El Observador. December.
