59 STUDENT PROJECTS WITH EXTERNAL ORGANIZATIONS 2018 School of Engineering Development of an origin-destination matrix for public transportation in Montevideo Author: Eliana Clavijo Organization: Montevideo City Government This project proposes a method for estimating an origin-destination matrix (OD matrix) for the public transportation network, with the aim of contributing to the Montevideo Metropolitan Transportation System. Using available data sources, it develops an algorithm that estimates a passenger’s probable destination based on knowledge of the origin of each segment and adjusted according to bus route data, an idea based on the studies by Gordon, Wang, and Trépanier, as well as Chapleau and Tranchant. The results were validated by comparing them with the findings of the 2016 Mobility Survey of the Montevideo metropolitan area. Major: Systems Engineering Advisor: Dr. Helena Garbarino eIDUy - promoting the use of the Uruguayan electronic identity document Author: Pablo Sanguinet Organization: National Civil Identification Directorate The objective of this project is to promote the use of the Uruguayan eID (identity card). First, a study was conducted on the state of the art of electronic identification in our country, which included the concepts of electronic documents, digital signatures, and advanced digital signatures, as well as an analysis of the current legal framework in Uruguay regarding electronic documents and digital signatures, comparing it with international standards, particularly European ones. The second part of the project focused on creating software prototypes for the Uruguayan eID, which included programming the interfaces necessary to facilitate interaction with the eID and building prototypes that demonstrate various scenarios in which its use is feasible. Degree Program: Systems Engineering Advisor: Dr. Helena Garbarino
