61 Granja Virtual - A New Marketing Channel for Uruguayan Fruit and Vegetable Products Authors: Bruno Cánepa, Mateo Gallardo, Renol Machado, Matías Ruiz, and Facundo Sellanes Organization: Daniel Sellanes (agricultural producer) The objective of this system is to create a new marketing channel for Uruguay’s fruit and vegetable products, in response to a request from the client, Daniel Sellanes, an agricultural producer from San José. To understand the problem and arrive at a solution, the Design Thinking methodology was applied, iterating twice and using prototypes to repeat the interviews. Seven producers, four intermediaries, and 22 merchants from Canelones, Colonia, Florida, Montevideo, and San José provided input. Granja Virtual is a mobile app for Android and iOS operating systems that connects merchants directly with producers through a network of carriers. Its frontend was developed with React Native and its backend with Node.js, both technologies based on the JavaScript programming language. Major: Systems Engineering Advisor: Diego de León, Eng. HR Bot: a bot for human resources management Authors: Juan Diego Boix, Enzo Monjardín, Federico Ojeda, and Stefano Rumi Organization: Ascentis This project aims to develop a bot capable of processing text messages and performing actions based on what the user types. The client, Ascentis, is a U.S. company dedicated to selling software-as-a-service solutions for human resources management. HR Bot, which is available on the main communication tools used in the workplace, such as Slack, Skype, and Messenger, is capable of interpreting natural language, extracting the intent behind a phrase, and executing the corresponding action in the human resources system. It also responds to the user with the result via the same channel, simulating a conversation. To solve the problem, the team used microservice-based architectures, implemented with Node.js, that interact with Google’s natural language processing service. From there, it analyzes the syntactic trees to extract the user’s intent and thus performs the action requested by the user. Major: Systems Engineering Advisor: Leonardo Scafarelli, B.S.
