62 2018 Yearbook Hydra Launchpad: A platform supporting startups in validating and developing their business ideas Authors: Steffano Chilotte, Juan Ignacio Gil, Gabriel Juarez, and Rodrigo Pérez Organization: Hydra Factory The purpose of this project is to structure the experimentation process for entrepreneurs. Hydra Launchpad is a web platform that enables the management of the business idea validation process, designed for startups seeking to shorten their product development cycle. The solution involved a web application with its backend developed using the .NET Core framework. The application’s frontend consists of a SPA, using the ReactJS library and the Semantic-UI styling framework. The software engineering process was carried out using an adaptation of the Scrum agile methodology. Major: Systems Engineering Advisor: Ricardo Szyfer, Eng. LanguageVR: Immersive Virtual Experience for Language Learning Authors: Martín Mazur, Martín Olazábal, Franco Priggione, and Santiago Varela Organization: SimDesign The concept of virtual reality involves sensory immersion in a new world—based on real or fictional environments—that has been artificially generated. This project aims to incorporate virtual reality into second-language learning. LanguageVR uses Samsung Gear VR headsets in conjunction with a Samsung smartphone, utilizing a Unity engine to generate an application that runs on the Android operating system. The set of developed features is organized into lessons, which consist of 360-degree videos projected in three dimensions with subtitles, a virtual keyboard, and a voice recognition feature to detect what the user repeats or answers. These elements allow the user to interact with the application and with various pieces of content that are presented, explained, and then evaluated.
