71st Arduino Day On May 11, the Faculty of Engineering hosted the local edition of Arduino Day, an event held simultaneously around the world and open to anyone who wishes to participate, regardless of whether they have experience or knowledge of engineering or design. As part of the event, a project exhibition and a workshop for beginners were held, with 50 people in attendance. Arduino is an open-source hardware platform based on a board with a microcontroller and a development environment, designed to facilitate the use of electronics in multidisciplinary projects. Camino TICs Since 2010, the Camino TICs project has offered scholarships for technical courses and degree programs in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICTs). Its goal is to provide technical training to young people from low-income households in fields with high employment rates. In 2018, a total of 28 students were selected, with support from the university’s student scholarship program and the companies Bantotal, Fundación Itaú, and Unión Capital AFAP. To date, more than 200 students have benefited from this project. 13th ICT Job Fair On September 5, the Graduate Coordination Office of the School of Engineering organized the 13th Information Technology Job Fair, declared of educational interest by the Ministry of Education and Culture and of ministerial interest by the Ministry of Labor and Social Security. More than 40 companies and organizations participated, including Arnaldo Castro, BBVA, Despegar.com, El País, Globant, Mercado Libre, Moove-it, PedidosYa, Pronto, República AFAP, Sabre, Tata Consultancy Services, TiendaMIA.com, and UruIT.
