78 2018 Yearbook World Interior Design Day On May 26, the International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers celebrated World Interior Design Day through activities and conferences held simultaneously in different parts of the world under the theme “Design without borders.” Among the countries that joined the initiative were the United States, Estonia, New Zealand, Puerto Rico, and Uruguay. In this context, the School of Architecture organized two events: an exhibition of student work from the Interior Design Bachelor’s Program workshop, which aimed to showcase the skills students develop throughout their studies for designing livable spaces and improving the quality of life of those who reside there; and a meeting between students and faculty from the Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design and the Interior Design Technician program. Academic meeting to exchange design experiences with high school teachers The School of Architecture organized the academic meeting “Design Tools for Architecture,” which brought together high school teachers from various schools across the country. The goal was to share opinions and experiences regarding the management and use of design tools. During the event, which took place on July 13 at the Pocitos campus, Architect Pablo Raviolo, full professor of Drawing 1 and 2, and Architect Fernando Montaño, full professor of Technical Design 2, presented the transition from AutoCAD to the new BIM system, which allows young people to become familiar with the latest technologies in the sector at an earlier stage. The purpose of the meeting was to exchange experiences to promote a paradigm shift toward a collaborative environment based on synergy between different disciplines and stakeholders, aimed at improving students’ skills for their transition to higher education. Workshop “Teaching Mathematics: The Transition from Secondary to University Level” On August 17, the workshop “Teaching Mathematics: The Transition from Secondary to University Level” took place at the School of Architecture, led by Architect Marcel Perchman, full professor of Mathematics 1 and 2. This activity was designed for secondary school mathematics teachers and included teamwork exercises, a hands-on workshop, and playful learning tools. The goal of this activity was to mitigate the impact on students of the transition from secondary to university education, particularly in mathematics-related subjects. EXTENSION ACTIVITIES 2018
