73 OUTREACH ACTIVITIES 2020 Camino TICs Since 2010, the Camino TICs project has offered scholarships for technical courses and degree programs in the field of Information and Communication Technologies (ICT). Its goal is to provide technical training to young people from low-income households in fields with high employment rates. In 2020, a total of 29 students participated, with support from the university’s student scholarship program and the companies Bantotal, Fundación Itaú, and Unión Capital AFAP. To date, more than 250 students have benefited from this project. Science at the Bar, a series of meetings to foster the emergence of biotechnology startups The CIE BIO Biotechnology Incubator, promoted by the Biotechnology Research and Innovation Center (CBI+I), the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship at Universidad ORT Uruguay the Technological University of Uruguay, organized the series of meetings Science at the Bar, with the aim of fostering the emergence of biotechnology startups and promoting exchange among entrepreneurs, businesspeople, scientists, and others interested in solving problems in environmental, health, and agribusiness issues. The series, which consisted of three meetings in May, July, and October featuring national and international speakers, was carried out in partnership with Ingenio, the Inter-American Institute for Cooperation on Agriculture (IICA), and the Khem Incubator, with support from the LISTO project (Latin American and European Cooperation on Innovation and Entrepreneurship) and the National Agency for Research and Innovation (ANII), within the framework of the National Development Agency’s (ANDE) Support for Activities to Foster a Culture of Entrepreneurship. Faculty of Communication and Design Recreación 20: “Real-world design experiences in Uruguay” Recreación is an academic space for collaboration with companies that brings together, under the Integrative Project, proposals from final-year students in the Bachelor’s programs in Graphic, Industrial, Fashion, and Multimedia Design. In this edition, held from February 18 to 20, 70 students participated, presenting their projects to 63 companies to address their design needs. Some of the participating companies and institutions were: Aquarela, Montevideo Photography Center, Club Biguá de Villa Biarritz, Coucou Reutilizables, Defensor Sporting Club, Dei Vila, Escuela Horizonte, Forum Design, La Casa de Rose, La Chocolatería, María Bouvier, Cocina de India, Santana Café, Srta. Peel, Sushi True, Teatro Solís, Virazón, and Zarvich.
