Professional Programme in Software Process Improvement

May 3, 2010
On May 3, the three-month Professional Programme Software Process Improvement (CMMI) began at the School of Technology within the Faculty of Engineering. The Programme is designed for university graduates and technical professionals in the ICT field with experience in the software industry.

The program offers concrete solutions to challenges related to process definition, project management, and product and process quality assurance in software development for medium and large-scale organizations. It provides tools for defining software development processes and incorporating best practices for software production, with a focus on managing projects based on Level 2 of the CMMI maturity model.

It delves into practices for planning, monitoring, and controlling software projects; configuration management; requirements management; product and project measurement and analysis; product and process quality assurance; and vendor contract management.

The program is complemented by practical implementation through direct work in real organizations, providing specific recommendations on the most relevant aspects to consider in an official assessment, contributed by an assessor recognized by the Software Engineering Institute ( SEI) at Carnegie Mellon University.
