Universidad ORT Uruguay the highest enrollment in technical programmes in information and communication technologies (ICT) in 2024 and ranked second among all institutions surveyed at this level, according to the report "Academic Training in ICT" published by Cuti.

Sebastián Pombo, a professor at ORT’s School of Engineering, was named a Senior Member of the IEEE, one of the world’s most prestigious professional organizations in STEM fields.

The dean of the ORT Institute of Education became the sole representative of the field of education at the National Academy of Sciences of Uruguay, which is recognition of her outstanding career at the national, regional, and international levels.

Enrique Topolansky, MBA, director of the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) at Universidad ORT Uruguay, was recognized in the Merco Líderes Uruguay 2025 ranking.

The National Development Agency recognized ORT's Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship (CIE) as the institution sponsoring entrepreneurship with the highest number of projects approved in the last ten years, consolidating its role as a key player in Uruguay's entrepreneurial ecosystem.

The dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Universidad ORT Uruguay ranked seventh in the Merco Líderes Uruguay 2025 ranking, which evaluates reputation, leadership, and social impact.

Fernando Paganini, vice dean of research at the Faculty of Engineering, and Sergio Yovine, researcher and academic coordinator of the Big Data and Artificial Intelligence programs, are included in the international ranking compiled by Stanford University, which brings together the top 2% of the world's most cited scientists.

Dr. Denise Vaillant, dean of the Institute of Education, and Renato Opertti, advisor on international projects, contributed as authors to the 2025 regional report by UNESCO and the OEI on leadership in education in Latin America.

Dr. Yovine, researcher and academic coordinator at ORT's Faculty of Engineering, was included in Research.com's 2024 ranking of outstanding scientists.

In late 2023, the rector Universidad ORT Uruguay honored with this annual award, which recognizes ORT professionals whose educational efforts and achievements have a positive impact both locally and internationally.

The rector Universidad ORT Uruguay, Dr. Jorge Grünberg, was interviewed by the online publication Times Higher Education (THE).

According to the report *Academic Training in ICT 2023*, ORT accounts for 46% of enrollment in technical education, 24% in undergraduate programs, and 22% in graduate programs in the field of information and communications technology (ICT) nationwide.

The study "Uruguay: report on talent in the IT sector," conducted jointly by the IT Observatory of the Uruguayan Chamber of Information Technology (CUTI) and Microsoft, found that among those specializing in information technology, there is a high proportion of ORT graduates.

The National System of Researchers, as explained on its website, promotes "the categorization and economic incentives for researchers, the production of knowledge across all areas, and the strengthening and expansion of the national scientific community." 

According to this research, of those with a university education, more than half studied at Universidad ORT Uruguay the University of the Republic, reported Semanario Búsqueda in its April 20, 2023 edition.

The vice dean of research at ORT's Faculty of Engineering and former member of GACH received the Morosoli de Oro Award for Culture.

" Universidad ORT Uruguay, which specializes in technology degrees but also has a strong focus on business, has become a breeding ground for unicorns," notes journalist Gonzalo Charquero in his article entitled "This university is a 'breeding ground' for unicorns: what is its secret?"

The ORT Biotechnology Department and the CBI+I, which operates at the university, developed, together with the La Buena Estrella veterinary laboratory, the first vaccine capable of effectively combating the native ticks that attack Uruguay's productive livestock.

The MDS, created by ORT's Chair of Management and Accounting for Sustainable Development – Deloitte, won the Uruguay Sustainable Environment National Award.

La Casa Uruguaya the Energy Globe Award in the national category for Uruguay. The award is presented annually to sustainable projects or awareness campaigns focused on sustainability.

The Energy Globe is currently the most renowned global award for sustainability.

Dr. Denise Vaillant, academic secretary of the ORT Institute of Education, was promoted in 2019 to Level III in the Social Sciences area of the National System of Researchers.

Vaillant is the only representative from the field of education at that level.

Academics from the Institute of Education and the Faculty of Architecture achieved significant additions and promotions in the SNI.

The SNI promotes the categorization and economic incentives for researchers, the production of knowledge across all areas, and the strengthening and expansion of the national scientific community.

A report by the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), entitled "Video games are not a game," highlighted Universidad ORT Uruguay a pioneer in the region for offering a Bachelor's Degree in Animation and Video Games.

The Faculty of Administration and Social Sciences is the first business school in Uruguay to publish cases in Harvard Business Publishing, as a member of the Cladea Balas Case Consortium (CBCC), an organization composed of Ibero-American educational institutions.

Eduardo Mangarelli, dean of the School of Engineering, and Enrique Topolansky, director of ORT’s Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, are included in the list of the 100 most reputable business leaders in Uruguay, according to the Merco 2023–2024 ranking released in November 2024.

The study was conducted by PRO Universitarios using data collected and analyzed by the polling firm Grupo Radar. The results are based on an online survey of students at the University of the Republic (Udelar) and private universities in Uruguay. The fieldwork was conducted between October 24 and November 10, 2019.

With a score of 74 out of 100, Universidad ORT Uruguay ranked as the private university with the best reputation in the country, according to a study conducted by Factum and published on May 21, 2018.
