Global Measurement

Sustainability Impact Ratings, formerly known as THE Impact Rankings, is presented by Times Higher Education as the only global ranking that measures the progress of higher education institutions in relation to the Sustainable Development Goals.

The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) are an agenda adopted by the United Nations in 2015 to address global challenges such as poverty, education, equality, sustainability, innovation, peace, and partnerships by 2030.

Sustainability Impact Ratings evaluates universities based on four dimensions: research, institutional management, community engagement, and teaching. According to THE’s methodology, these dimensions allow for a comprehensive comparison of institutions’ sustainability performance, going beyond traditional academic indicators.

To be included in the overall ranking, universities must submit information on SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals, and on at least three other SDGs. The final score combines the result for SDG 17—which accounts for 22% of the total—with the institution’s three best performances among the other SDGs, each weighted at 26%.

ORT’s sustained participation in this assessment since 2021 reflects a long-term institutional strategy that includes academic initiatives, management efforts, and community engagement.
