The AD Scientific Index 2026 ranks ORT as the highest-ranked private university in Uruguay in terms of scientific performance

The institutional profile published by AD Scientific Index indicates that Universidad ORT Uruguay listed with 48 academic staff members.

The AD Scientific Index (Alper–Döğer Scientific Index) is an initiative launched in 2021 that ranks researchers and institutions. To determine institutional rankings, it aggregates bibliometric indicators (such as citations, h-index, and i10-index) from researchers that the platform identifies as affiliated with each university on Google Scholar.

According to its methodology, the ranking uses public data from Google Scholar and considers three main metrics, calculated both as total values and over the past five years: 

  • h-index, as an indicator of productivity and sustained impact.  
  • i10-index, as a measure of publications with at least 10 citations.  
  • appointments, as a tally of cumulative academic support.   

Market Position in Uruguay 

In the 2026 national ranking, Universidad ORT Uruguay is ranked #2 in the country, and when compared to other Uruguayan private institutions listed on the platform, it ranks ahead of them

The report also provides rankings by the fields in which the university is represented, including Education, Economics and Econometrics, Architecture and Design, and Engineering and Technology, in accordance with the index’s own classification system.

Commitment to research 

Research at Universidad ORT Uruguay combines academic work with applied projects, involving faculty and researchers and collaborating with industry.  

The institutionhas than 50 scholars who are members of the National System of Researchers (SNI) and maintains a Research Fund established in 2005, in addition to national and international grants for projects. 

Its faculty includes more than 160 PhD holders. In addition, student involvement in research is facilitated through capstone projects focused on real-world needs and research assistantships.
