Lecture: “The Jewish Calendar: Tradition and Evolution of a Civilization. Yom HaShoah”

On April 16, 2012, ORT Pocitos hosted the lecture “The Jewish Calendar: Tradition and Evolution of a Civilization. Yom HaShoah,” presented by Rafael Winter, a professor in the Jewish Studies Department at the Escuela Intergral Hebreo Uruguay-Instituto Ariel Hebreo Uruguayo and Vice President of the Montevideo Holocaust Memorial Center. The lecture addressed the commemoration of the Shoah (Jewish Holocaust), its multiple meanings for the Jewish people, and its universal message. It was organized by the Department of Jewish Studies.

Prof. Winter holds a Master’s degree in Contemporary Judaism from the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, with a specialization in Jewish Education for the Diaspora from the university’s Melton Center, and a Bachelor’s degree in History.
