On August 8, 2012, the conference “Deciphering the Educational Approach of the Promised Land: Contributions to the Uruguayan Experience” took place at ORT Pocitos. It was led by José Ramón Silveira, an education advisor to the President of the Central Bank of Uruguay, who is active in the Programme Educa Programme . As a former Israel fellow, he shared his training experience in that country and the insights it provided for his work in Uruguay. The lecture was organized by the Uruguayan Association of Former Israel Fellows in collaboration with the university’s Department of Jewish Studies.
Silveira is a professor in the Economics Department at the Institute of Exact and Business Sciences. He holds a diploma in “Teaching for Understanding” from Harvard University. He has a bachelor’s degree in psychology. One of his projects was selected as an official exhibit at the “Sixth Latin American Conference on Learning Objects and Technology for Education.” At Plan Ceibal, he also developed content for the communications department, notably contributing to the first season of “Sabelo” (an educational program on broadcast television). In 2011, he participated in MASHAV’s international scholarship program, through which he studied at the OFRI Center in Jerusalem in a course titled “Education for Science and Technology: ICT in Education.”
