The Scratch MOOC for Teens (SM4T) course was selected on February 17, 2014, to participate in the World Summit on the Information Society (WSIS 2014) competition. The public could vote until April 18, 2014. The results will be announced during the "WSIS+10 High-Level Event 2014" in Geneva, Switzerland, on a date to be determined. SM4T is the country’s first Massive Open Online Course (MOOC) focused on teaching programming to teenagers.

SM4T is a joint initiative of Universidad ORT Uruguay Plan Ceibal, which took place between October and December 2013. It is coordinated by Assistant Professor Víctor Paulós, Academic Secretary of the School of Technology; Dr. Inés Kereki, Professor of Programming at the school; and Magela Fuzatti on behalf of Plan Ceibal.

It consists of the design and implementation of an experimental massive open online course (MOOC) on "Creating Video Games and Animations with Scratch," in which 170 teachers and more than 1,000 high school students from across the country enrolled.
