Professor presented papers at the "4th International Symposium on Environmental Biotechnology and Engineering"

Dr. Ángela Cabezas, Coordinator of the Energy Sector Fund (FSE) Project and Researcher for the Lage Project (ANII’s “Alliances for Innovation” Program in collaboration with Lage y Cía) at the School of Engineering, presented two papers at the “4th International Symposium on Environmental Biotechnology and Engineering,” of which she is a co-author. The event took place from September 9 to 12, 2014, in Zacatenco, Mexico City.

The symposium was organized by the Institut de Recherche pour le Développement, Serveis Millora Agrària, the College of Chemists of Asturias and León, the Center for Research and Advanced Studies of the National Polytechnic Institute, the Autonomous Metropolitan University, the National Autonomous University of Mexico, the National Polytechnic Institute, the Autonomous University of the State of Hidalgo, the Polytechnic University of Pachuca, the College of Postgraduates, and the Technological Institute of Higher Studies of Ecatepec.

She presented the following articles:

-“Microbial community analysis of a full-scale winery wastewater treatment system”.
It was conducted by Dr. Cabezas together with:
- Agustina Ziliani, undergraduate student in Biotechnology
- Guadalupe Paolino, Quality Manager at Bodega Juanicó, Montevideo
- Gustavo Ochoa, Quality Manager at Bodega Juanicó, Montevideo

- “Isolation and characterization of Uruguayan native strains of Bacillus thuringiensis”, in addition to Dr. Cabezas, was conducted by Dr. Cabezas together with:
- Alfonso García Pintos, Project Assistant at Lage, ANII (Alliances for Innovation Program in collaboration with Lage y Cía) at the School of Engineering
- Natalia Scioscia, Research Fellow for the project “Molecular characterization of native strains of Bacillus thuringiensis with bioinsecticidal potential”
- Carlos Sanguinetti, M.Sc., Academic Coordinator of Biotechnology at the School of Engineering
- Dr. Lorena Betancor, Research Professor of Biotechnology at the School of Engineering
