"Quadratic Surfaces" Architecture Exhibition

August 28, 2015
From July 30 to August 21, 2015, the Faculty of Architecture hosted the exhibition “Quadratic Surfaces,” featuring models created by students in the Mathematics 1 and Architecture Project 1 courses.

Drawing on traditional knowledge of various quadric surfaces (paraboloid, hyperbolic paraboloid, single- and double-sheeted hyperboloids, ellipsoid, and cone), students were asked to familiarize themselves with these surfaces by exploring their possibilities and their expressive and functional potential.

The students presented their projects in the form of models they built themselves, showcasing the design of spaces or objects based on quadric surfaces.

They also studied the two-variable equations of the surfaces, their cross-sections, and various characteristics specific to each project. This approach fostered a strong connection between design and mathematics.

The instructor in charge of the course is Architect Marcel Perchman.
