May 30, 2015
Rosana Fernández, coordinator of the pre-incubator at the CIE (Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship), and Assistant Professor Victor Paulos, academic secretary of the School of Technology at the Faculty of Engineering, spoke about the university’s proposed massive open online courses (MOOCs) and the Oculus-Dino Systems Engineering capstone project at a networking event organized by the Latin American and Caribbean Internet House.

The event took place on May 28, 2015, at the organization’s headquarters in Montevideo to celebrate its third anniversary and “Internet Day.”

Oculus-Dino consists of a virtual tour of the Mesozoic Era, when dinosaurs dominated the Earth.

Its goal is to use virtual reality technology (Oculus Rift) as a teaching tool, transporting users back to that era so they can understand how dinosaurs lived and what characteristics they had.

The development team consisted of five systems engineering students: Agustín Boba, Guillermo Giovine, Gonzalo Lema, Carolina Martinote, and Virginia Morrone, who carried out this project as part of their senior thesis work.

La Casa de Internet is an organization that brings together Internet entities in the region; it was created to facilitate contact among them and offer better services to their community.
