Architecture students exhibited their work from the Direct Observation Sketch Competition

October 28, 2015
From October 29 to November 5, 2015, an exhibition of the works submitted to the 7th Annual Direct Observation Sketching Competition was held in the lobby of the School of Architecture. The competition was organized as part of the Architectural Drawing 1 course.

The call for entries involved submitting two drawings that concluded an exercise in which participants were asked to produce 10 hand-drawn sketches based on direct observation.

The exercise aimed to introduce students to the practice of surveying built spaces and landscapes through an appreciation of proportions, as well as to familiarize them with a range of spaces and buildings of varying scales and degrees of complexity, characterized by their recognized architectural value.

The competition promoted the creation of a product of collective identity through the integration of individual works and also sought to foster self-criticism and reflection through an appreciation of the diversity of the submitted works.

The jury was composed of Architect Gastón Boero, dean of the school; Architect Jorge Migues, instructor of Drawing and Workshop 1 in the Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design; and Architect Pablo Raviolo, tenured professor of Architectural Drawing.
