Universidad ORT Uruguay as a partner in Poncho, a three-year capacity-building project in higher education coordinated by the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and co-funded by the European Union’s Erasmus+ Program.

The European Erasmus+ Capacity Building in Higher Education projects are transnational cooperation agreements based on multilateral partnerships between institutions from program countries and partner countries. In the 2015 call for proposals, 515 proposals were submitted, of which 140 were selected for funding.

The project comprises 25 partner institutions, 21 from Latin America (Argentina, Brazil, Bolivia, Colombia, Ecuador, Paraguay, and Uruguay), four from Europe (Spain, France, Poland, and Portugal), and UNESCO’s International Institute for Higher Education in Latin America as an associated entity.

Its purpose is to encourage the internationalization process of the Latin American partner universities, with special emphasis on those in the region’s peripheral areas.

Universidad ORT Uruguay designated to co-coordinate the Poncho work package on communication and dissemination of the project and its results.

Dr. Laura Diaz-Arnesto, Academic Projects Coordinator, was invited to participate in the project launch, which took place from February 24 to 26, 2016, at the University of Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
