Book Launch: *The Cry of the Suitcase* (The Story of Two Sisters Separated by the Nazis)

On July 21, 2016, the Pocitos Campus hosted the launch of the book *El llanto de la maleta* (The Cry of the Suitcase: The Story of Two Sisters Separated by Nazism), published by Milenio and written by Dr. David Serrano Blanquer, a professor at the Blanquerna School of Communication at Ramon Llull University in Barcelona. In addition to the author, speakers included Ruperto Long, Minister of the Court of Auditors and former senator of the Republic (2005–2010), and Giza Alterwajn, one of the book’s protagonists.
The book tells the story of Giza, who was born in the Warsaw Ghetto, and her adoptive sister.

Dr. Serrano Blanquer is the author of A Catalan in Mauthausen (2001), Women in Nazi concentration camps (2003), Spaniards in Nazi camps (2004), A Corpse in the Mirror: The Odyssey of Juan Camacho: Gádor, Mauthausen, Montevideo (2010) Isaac Borojovich and the memory of the Holocaust (2013).

The event was organized by the Department of Jewish Studies.
