Roundtable Discussion: “The Future of Electric Grids with Renewable Energy Integration and Demand Management”

On November 30, 2016, the Faculty of Engineering hosted a roundtable discussion titled “The Future of Electric Grids with Renewable Energy Integration and Demand Management,” which took place as part of the launch of the Electrical Engineering program.

Presentations:

- “Prospects for Microgeneration: The Situation in the United Kingdom and Uruguay,” presented by Eduardo Touya, Engineer, Director of Oversight at the Regulatory Authority for Energy and Water Services (Ursea). He holds a Master’s degree in International Economics from the University of the Republic and a Master of Science in “New and Renewable Energy” from the University of Durham, United Kingdom.

- “Economic Operation of Electric Grids with Distributed Generation and Demand Management” by Enrique Briglia, Head of the Commercialization Project for the LNG Project and a member of the faculty’s Group on Applied Mathematics for Telecommunications and Energy.

- “New Optimization Methods for Electric Grids and Markets” by Dr. Fernando Paganini, Professor of Telecommunications Theory at the faculty.
