Architect Gastón Boero, Dean of the School of Architecture; Architect Walter Graiño, Full Professor of Construction and Site Management; and Architect Laura Moya, Full Professor of Structures, attended a workshop for the presentation of “Applications of Domestic Wood in Construction,” which took place on July 23 in the Conference Room of the ANCAP Building. The event was organized by the Ministry of Industry, Energy, and Mining and the Ministry of Livestock, Agriculture, and Fisheries. Architect Laura Moya, representing the university, presented a paper on “Structural Systems.”
The event was attended by representatives from the country’s wood and forest products industries, LATU, the University of the Republic, ORT University, and companies specializing in the construction of wooden homes.
The main objective of the conference was to disseminate knowledge about the uses and products of wood and wood derivatives available in Uruguay. The School of Architecture is currently conducting research on wood technologies for construction.
