An article by academics was one of the two best papers at the 2009 Latin American Networking Conference

The paper “A connection level model for 802.11 cells” by Andrés Ferragut, a research assistant in the MATE Group (Applied Mathematics for Telecommunications) at the School of Engineering, and Dr. Fernando Paganini, Professor of Telecommunications Theory, was selected as one of the two best papers at the LANC 2009 (Latin American Networking Conference), receiving the ACM SIGCOMM (Special Interest Group on Data Communications) award.

The prize consists of a trip for one of the authors to the prestigious SIGCOMM 2010 conference, which will take place in New Delhi, India. This is the flagship annual conference of the Special Interest Group on Communications and Computer Networks of the Association for Computing Machinery.

Mr. Ferragut traveled to Brazil to present the paper at the Latin American Networking Conference, which took place in the city of Pelotas on September 24 and 25. The award ceremony took place during the conference’s opening session.
