October 27, 2009
For the fifth consecutive year, Universidad ORT Uruguay ranked among the top 500 universities in the world and among the top 14 in Latin America in the ranking published on October 16 by Times Higher Education (THE) in London.

This annual ranking, which evaluates more than 30,000 universities, is considered one of the most influential in the world. The main criteria used to compile it are academic peer reviews, employer evaluations, and published research.

Of the more than 700 universities in Latin America, only 14 were ranked among the top 500 in the world. The top 10 universities are American or British, and Harvard University is once again ranked first. The vast majority (69%) of the universities ranked among the top 500 in the world are American or European, and only 3% are Latin American.
