Theories of teaching are the focus of this seminar. We distinguish between teaching and learning, even as we study their relationships and intersections. Current studies on the teaching profession, the characteristics of classroom communication, and the political, social, and cognitive analyses that arise from issues of content selection are topics of current didactic concern. The seminar emphasizes the analysis of teaching within the political and institutional contexts where practices unfold, as well as the impact of reforms and innovations on these approaches.
