An app created by graduates was recognized at the “Disrupt Hackathon” in Berlin

October 30, 2013
The Truly.am app, created by Dayana Jabif and Agustín Haller, graduates of the Systems Engineering program, was recognized as one of the top entries at “Disrupt Hackathon, an event organized by the technology website TechCrunch in Berlin, Germany. Starting on October 26, 2013, the graduates had 24 hours to design and program their app. They then presented a one-minute demo of it to the jury and a large audience.

Truly.am allows internet users to verify the identity of the person they are interacting with. To confirm that the person in the photo is who they claim to be, users can upload the photo to Truly.am along with the email address of the person supposedly pictured. The app then sends an email to that person, asking them to take a series of photos with their webcam to “train the algorithm.”
