The “AVA” light fixture by Diego Chiola, a student in the Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Design program, was selected in November 2013 for the second stage of “Salão Design Movelsul Brasil 2014,” a Latin American product design competition, in the “Student Division – Lighting Category.” Meanwhile, the “FRANS” bench by Andrés Espina and Nicolás Noblia, students in the bachelor’s program, was chosen in the “Student Division – Outdoor Furniture Category.”

Of the 585 projects submitted from 15 countries, 93 advanced to the second phase in the Student, Professional, and Industry categories. The finalists represent Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Italy, and Uruguay.

The next stage, in February 2014, involves the submission and evaluation of prototypes. The exhibition and awards ceremony for the “Movelsul 2014” finalists will take place from March 24 to 28, 2014, at the Bento Gonçalves Event Park (Rio Grande do Sul).

The “AVA” light fixture with shelf was developed in the Industrial Design 5 – Innovation course, taught by Professor DI Alejandro Trinidad. Its prototype was displayed at the “Design Objects – Entrepreneurship” exhibition organized by the faculty.

The “FRANS” outdoor bench, featuring a planter and bicycle rack, is an independently developed project.
