Film Analysis Series: Hollywood Rom-Coms

"The Birth, Heyday, and Demise of the Romantic Comedy" is the theme of the fifth edition of the Film Analysis Workshop, which aims to explore the evolution of Hollywood rom-coms from the early 1930s to the beginning of the 21st century. Through a selection of seminal films, the series invites viewers to reexamine a genre often—and mistakenly—considered innocent, minor, and intended exclusively for female audiences.

Throughout the series, we will identify key themes that will help us reflect on these films, observe their similarities and differences in how they portray love, romance, and marriage, and examine the various roles that female characters have taken on in them over the years.

The workshop will be moderated byClara Vázquez, who holds a bachelor's degree in Communication with a focus on Audiovisual Media.
