What should I do?
When you join the Programme , we’ll assign you one of the exchange students.
The idea is for you to email him before he arrives, to share his fears and his excitement. Once he gets here, visit him a couple of times, show him how to order food at a restaurant and how much to tip; teach him how to drink mate, how the ATM works, where the student office is, what "salado" means, and whatever else comes to mind…
-
What are the requirements?
To be eager. Eager to learn, to teach, and to have new experiences.
The students already know Spanish when they arrive, and they receive ongoing support from the university.
The program is open exclusively to students at Universidad ORT Uruguay.
-
Do I need to know English?
No. The students already know Spanish when they arrive and want to improve their skills here. There’s no better way to do that than by speaking to them in Spanish.
-
When do the exchange students arrive?
The university accepts students for both semesters. Mentors are assigned approximately one month before classes begin.
