Studying in Uruguay

Language requirements

Virtually all university courses are taught in Spanish. Therefore, if Spanish is not your native language, you must demonstrate that you have an adequate level of proficiency.

The minimum required level is intermediate (B1) according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

However, for some courses in the School of Communication and the School of Design, an advanced level (minimum C1) is required.

The university reserves the right to administer additional language tests to evaluate the admission of exchange students to these courses.

To prove your level of Spanish, one of the following documents is accepted:

  • A letter from the Spanish teacher, accompanied by the syllabus for the student's most recent Spanish course.
  • DELE certificate or equivalent.
