2024 Teacher Awards Ceremony: Recognizing Dedication and Passion for Teaching

Awards were presented for Teaching Excellence in undergraduate, short-term, graduate, and executive programs; Outstanding Faculty; Teaching Performance; Research and Academic Output; Career Achievement and Contribution to the Faculty; and supervision of the Final Project.

On Friday, December 13, the Faculty Awards Ceremony was held at the School of Business and Social Sciences, where the work and commitment of the faculty members were recognized; through their dedication, they inspire and guide new generations of students.

At an event that brought together the academic community, awards were presented to those who have made a significant contribution to the fields of education and academia.

This time, the winners were:

  • Award for Teaching Excellence (Graduate and Executive Programs): Alejandro Moreno, MBA.
  • Award for Excellence in Teaching (undergraduate programs): Mag. María Natalia Santos.
  • Award for Teaching Excellence (short-term programs): Tonino Palermo, B.A.
  • Rising Star Award / Award for Excellence in Teaching: Gonzalo Mordecki, M.A.
  • Final Project Advisor Award: Emmanuel Devoto, MBA.
  • Award for Research and Academic Production: Rodrigo Lluberas, PhD.
  • Lifetime Achievement and Contribution Award to the Faculty: Laura Morales, MBA.
  • Outstanding Chair Award: International Trade.

This event highlights the deep commitment of the faculty, who focus not only on training professionals but also on guiding and nurturing individuals capable of making a difference in society.

Gratitude and emotion

Each of the award recipients shared their thoughts.

María Natalia Santos, a winner in the undergraduate category, commented: “I feel privileged to work in a place that represents me. The camaraderie here is essential, and my experience has been very enriching. I am grateful to everyone who gave me the opportunity to be part of this university.”

Alejandro Moreno, who received the Award for Teaching Excellence in the graduate and executive education category, said: “I’ve dedicated many years to teaching, and I’ve always done so with great passion. The team I work with is extraordinary, and I hope to continue contributing to teaching and research.”

Tonino Palermo, an award winner in the short-course category, emphasized the importance of a well-rounded education: “It is an honor to contribute to students’ growth not only academically, but also as individuals.”

Gonzalo Mordecki, who received recognition for his teaching performance, said that at first, when he was asked to teach, he hesitated to accept the offer, as he felt he might be too young for such a challenge. However, over time he discovered that this is, for him, a true calling, and he linked it to the importance that studying has had in his home since childhood.

Emmanuel Devoto expressed his deep gratitude to everyone who gave him the opportunity to attend college, highlighting how significant that first step was for him in his academic career. He acknowledged that this opportunity not only allowed him to develop professionally but also to grow as a person, and he emphasized the importance of that support in his journey as an educator.

Rodrigo Lluberas, who received an award for his research and academic work, praised the exceptional team he works with, saying, “It’s an incredible team. I hope to continue doing what I’m passionate about: teaching and research.”

Laura Morales, honored for her career and contribution to the faculty, was visibly moved: “I come from a family of teachers and have always taken my work very seriously. My goal has always been to help students shine in their own way.”

On behalf of the Chair of International Trade, Juan Labraga said: “This award is the result of a collective effort. One is nothing without one’s team, and this recognition goes to everyone who works together with passion.” Graciela de Vida, another of the department’s distinguished faculty members, said with emotion: “My heart beats strongly with pride for all these years on this team. I have no words to describe what this recognition means.”
