Curtain Wall: A Closer Look by Universidad ORT Uruguay

June 30, 2004
On Wednesday, June 23, 2004, a lecture on curtain wall facades was held at the School of Architecture, presented by Álvaro Morgades, Engineer.

The conference was aimed at construction professionals and technicians.

Mr. Morgades presented specific examples from Montevideo, describing the materials, components, details, and construction systems used in the construction of the curtain walls.

The speaker, Mr. Morgades, is a consultant, designer, and contractor specializing in curtain wall facades. He is a partner at IAM & Asociados and L’hermetique Muro Cortina, companies dedicated to the design, manufacture, and installation of curtain walls.

A curtain wall is a self-supporting, typically lightweight, glazed façade system that is independent of the building's load-bearing structure and is constructed as a continuous unit in front of it.
