Dr. Francisco RosasThe flagship journal of the International Association of Agricultural Economists, Agricultural Economics, appointed as Associate Editor Dr. Francisco Rosas, being the only Uruguayan to have held this position at the publication.

Rosas began his academic career about 10 years ago, during which time he managed to “maintain a steady record of publications in peer-reviewed international journals in this field or related fields, such as Environmental and Natural Resource Economics.” He noted that this consistency is “a necessary requirement for appointment as Associate Editor.”

He also clarified that his case has a unique aspect: “Actually, I don’t have any publications in that journal, though I do have them in related journals with similar rankings,” so the appointment is based primarily on “my track record in the field.”

Regarding the significance of this recognition, Rosas stated that it represents “an extremely important milestone,” both as validation of the academic work carried out and because of the responsibility it entails.

They see in me the ability (at least the potential) to evaluate the work of others, which is very challenging because science changes so quickly.

Regarding the opportunities this appointment opens up for Uruguay and the region, he noted that his role promotes greater interaction between Latin American researchers and the International Association of Agricultural Economists. “One of my main tasks as Associate Editor is to promote and encourage researchers from Latin America to submit papers to this journal, he said.

On a personal level, he emphasized that the position offers greater opportunities to collaborate with researchers from regional and international associations, which “increases the visibility of my academic work,” as well as that of the institutions to which he belongs:Universidad ORT Uruguay Cinve.”

At ORT’s School of Management and Social Sciences, Rosas serves as a professor of statistics and econometrics, as well as a faculty member and researcher in the Department of Economics.
