Brazilian artists perform songs composed by an ORT teacher

November 30, 2004
Songs composed by Dr. Leonardo Croatto, a sound professor at the School of Communication and Design, were recorded in Brazil for the Inter-American Children’s Institute campaign.

Several years ago, Dr. Croatto began a musical project with the Inter-American Children's Institute, in collaboration with Walter Tournier.

The first song in the series of eight that he composed for Tournier's animations was "Yo quiero,", performed by Ruben Rada, which became a hit throughout Latin America and won several awards.

They continued "Yo soy,", about the right to identity, sung by Laura Canoura, "Yo participo", produced in the Dominican Republic by Juan Luis Guerra’s group 440, and "Mi familia", produced in Mexico by the group Pandora, among others.

When the proposal to launch the campaign in Brazil arose, Televisão Educativa and RedeTV became involved in the project.

The artists featured in each of the commercials are renowned Brazilian figures such as Gilberto Gil, Milton Nascimento, Adriana Calcanhotto, Maria Bethânia, and Joyce; the music was produced by Hélio Ziskind, who composed the soundtrack for *Castelo Ratimbum*.
