The School of Architecture is celebrating this anniversary by participating in the prestigious event with a space designed entirely by the talent and creativity of its students.
The exhibition will be open to the public from October 31 to November 30, 2025at Carrasco Boating (Cam. Arenera, 15000 Ciudad de la Costa, Canelones), offering a unique opportunity to celebrate together the journey we’ve taken and the future of the profession.
Casa FOA: For the First Time in Uruguay
Casa FOA is the region’s most important exhibition of architecture, interior design, landscaping, and industry in the region, a landmark event that has been held in Buenos Aires since 1985. In 2025, as part of its 40th anniversary, it will make its Uruguay for the first time with an edition that will take place in the exceptional setting of Carrasco Boating.

Under the curatorial theme “Green City, Living Future,” the exhibition invites visitors to reflect on the relationship between design, sustainability, and quality of life. True to its spirit, the event maintains its dual purpose: to serve as a key showcase for regional talent and, at the same time, support a charitable cause.

In this edition, a portion of the proceeds will be donated to the Pérez Scremini Foundation, which works to fight against childhood cancer.

A space with the ORT stamp: the talent of its students
The ORT School of Architecture is participating with the following themed space: Universidad ORT Uruguay Immersive Space Universidad ORT Uruguay Celebration of the 21st Anniversary of the Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design.
The proposal, conceived by students in the program, is presented as an abstract, meditative, scenographic, and immersive space, designed to contemplate the lake’s landscape and foster a dialogue between nature and design.
Through the use of screen technology, visitors will be able to immerse themselves in the celebration of the program’s 21st anniversary.
The design and implementation of the project will be carried out by advanced students:

The project has by designer Ana Paula Di Flores, with general coordination by architect Jorge Migues. When asked about the design, Migues noted that “the space evokes a strong sense of abstraction and meditation in response to the landscape offered by the neighboring lake, in a design that brings together nature and the spirit of design.” He added:
“The aim is for visitors to the space to be able to enjoy the stunning surroundings while, through the use of screens, feeling like they are part of the celebration marking the program’s 21st anniversary.”

21 Years of the Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design
In 2025, the Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design will celebrate its 21st anniversary, having established itself as the first and only Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design in Uruguay. Since its inception, it has played a crucial role in the transformation, professionalization, and consolidation of interior design in the country.

Before its establishment in 2004, interior design in Uruguay lacked a university program that integrated theory, practice, and technology; ORT’s bachelor’s degree program was a pioneer in offering this comprehensive education, training a new generation of professionals who now lead the sector. In this regard, the dean of the School of Architecture, Architect Gastón Boero, highlighted the program’s impact on the professional field of Uruguayan interior design:
“The degree program is not only producing professionals with a 90% employment rate, but it is also bringing a higher level of professionalism to the field in Uruguay.”
Among the key features of the program are:
- An employment rate exceeding 90%.
- Earning an intermediate degree that facilitates a quick entry into the job market.
- The opportunity to complete internships at prestigious companies and firms.
- The opportunity to participate in exchange programs with universities in Europe, Asia, Oceania, and the Americas.
Meanwhile, for the Architect Ricardo Chelle, ME, academic coordinator of the Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design: “The program trains its students to become professionals capable of creating designs that improve quality of life, generating meaningful experiences.” And, regarding methods, he stated that the teaching methodology:
“It provides students with a holistic education that integrates technology, design, and the social sciences. Together, we foster critical thinking, an entrepreneurial spirit, and teamwork as the driving forces behind learning and professional practice.”
