The contest invites participants to develop a design proposal inspired by an everyday situation, allowing them to explore different disciplines through the creation of posters, apps, clothing, characters, digital works, or products.
A Challenge to Explore Design
The initiative aims to foster the development of fundamental design skills, promoting creativity, innovation, and the ability to transform ideas into visual and functional solutions.
Participation is on an individual basis, although students may be accompanied by a faculty advisor from their educational institution during the project development process.
As part of the contest, participants will have access to online workshops, mentoring sessions, and support materials designed to strengthen the design process, from the initial idea to the final presentation.
Project submissions will be made entirely online and will remain open until September 11, 2026, at 12:00 p.m.
Scholarships for Design Studies
The contest will award one 80% scholarship and one 50% scholarship to begin a college degree program at the School of Design at Universidad ORT Uruguay March 2027.
In addition, the faculty advisor accompanying the winning student will receive a 50% scholarship to pursue a certificate program at the Institute of Education at Universidad ORT Uruguay.
Assessment criteria
The projects will be evaluated by a faculty panel from the School of Design, which will consider four main aspects: creativity, innovation, presentation, and the validity of the proposal.
The results will be announced on September 25, 2026, on the School of Design's website.
This call for applications is open to students who will be in their 6th year of secondary school in 2026, regardless of their academic track, at public or private institutions in Uruguay, as well as to students in the technical high school program at the Universidad del Trabajo del Uruguay (UTU).
The competition offers an introduction to the university design process, giving participants the opportunity to develop their own project with academic and methodological guidance, in an experience that combines creativity, learning, and engagement with the discipline.
