Connections that inspire

October 30, 2025
Students in the Electronics, Electrical, and Telecommunications Engineering programs participated in a new gathering with alumni, an event designed to foster dialogue and build community within the department.

Strengthening the bonds between generations of engineers

The School of Engineering held the fifth edition of the gathering between graduates and students in the Electronics, Electrical, and Telecommunications Engineering programs, an event organized by the academic coordination team led by Dr. André Fonseca and Mag. Mariana Derderian.

About 25 students in their second and fourth semesters participated, along with five graduates who shared their professional experiences and their journey from college to the workforce: Fabián Frommel and Andrés Méndez, telecommunications engineers; Martín Fajardo and Ariel Gaspar, electronics engineers; and Victoria Báez, an electrical engineer.

A place to inspire and connect

The purpose of this event is to give students a firsthand look at what professional life in this field is like, the sectors in which they can pursue a career, and the first steps to take in their professional journey.

The graduates shared their experiences in various fields of engineering, discussing what they had learned, the challenges they faced, and practical advice on how to make the transition from the classroom to the workforce. The event also served to strengthen intergenerational ties, creating a space where students and alumni could get to know one another, exchange experiences, and, in many cases, go on to collaborate professionally in the future.

Building a professional community

This initiative has established itself as a key resource within the school, where aspiring engineers can envision their career paths and learn from the experiences of those who have walked the same path.

The fact that this event continues to take place reflects the School of Engineering’s commitment to supporting and fostering connections between its students and alumni, thereby promoting a strong, collaborative, and ever-growing academic and professional community.
