On March 14, 2025, at ORT Rambla, the Graduate School of Business welcomed Professor Jorge Caumont, an economist trained at the University of Chicago and a leading expert in microeconomics and macroeconomics at institutions such as the University of the Republic and Universidad ORT Uruguay.
At a luncheon for the alumni community, Caumont offered insights into the current macroeconomic situation and what to expect in the future.
He analyzed the impact of the international environment, taking into account interest rates, export and import prices, and the influence of Argentina and Brazil. He also examined the use of fiscal, monetary, and exchange rate policies by local economic authorities to achieve short-term macroeconomic balance, with a focus on growth and stability.
