On November 27, 2024, the international webinar “Democratizing Global Governance” was held, during which participants discussed citizen empowerment in the European Union (EU) and the United Nations (UN).
The event, organized by the Department of International Studies and the Jean Monnet Module, was moderated by Inés Pousadela, PhD, who holds a Bachelor’s degree in Political Science from the University of Buenos Aires, a Master’s degree in Economic Sociology from the Institute of Advanced Social Studies (IDAES-UNSAM), and a PhD in Political Science from the University of Belgrano (Argentina).
The event provided an opportunity to reflect on the opportunities available to the United Nations to undertake reforms that would enable it to fulfill the potential embodied in the opening words of its founding charter: “We, the peoples.”
The first session, titled “Participatory Democracy at the European Level: What Can the World Learn from the EU?”, featured presentations by:
