Andrés Bancalari, Lic., MBA, academic coordinator of the Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies at the Universidad ORT Uruguay, and Andrés Rosales, Mag., a professor in the program, participated in an academic conference at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Valparaíso (PUCV) in Chile.
The event marked the start of the second semester of the Master’s in International Relations program at the PUCV Institute of History and featured presentations by ORT faculty members on two areas of international relations: the Chinese economy and migration in the Southern Cone.
Chinese Economy
Bancalari delivered a lecture titled “China’s Economic Challenges,” in which he analyzed the development and potential of the Chinese economy, as well as its main challenges in the contemporary international arena.
The academic coordinator is also a member of the East Asia Research Group at the School of Administration and Social Sciences of the Universidad ORT Uruguay.
Migration in the Southern Cone
Rosales led a workshop on human mobility and migration flows. The workshop offered a comparative analysis of migration processes in various countries of the Southern Cone.
Rosales holds a master's degree in international relations from the Pontifical Catholic University of Valparaíso and a bachelor's degree in international relations from the National Autonomous University of Mexico.
The participation of both scholars was made possible with the support of the Program for Academic Cooperation ( Programme , PACA-PUCV), which is sponsored by the Chilean university’s Office of International Affairs. Among the program’s objectives is to support academic activities at the undergraduate and master’s levels, and it includes the participation of scholars from foreign institutions.
