Eduardo Mangarelli, dean of the School of Engineering, was named one of the 10 leaders with the best corporate reputation in the country, according to the 2025 edition of the Merco Líderes ranking.
Mangarelli ranked seventh, joining high-profile business leaders such as Nicolás Jodal, Carlos Alberto Lecueder, and Gustavo Trelles, who top the list.
The award was announced on November 17, in conjunction with the release of the annual study conducted by Merco, an international ranking that has been evaluating corporate reputation and leadership in Ibero-America for more than two decades.
When asked about this recognition, Mangarelli said:
I am honored and grateful for this recognition, which reflects the value of the work I have shared with so many people from whom I have had the opportunity and good fortune to learn, collaborate, and also lead. I especially appreciate the trust of my peers, which I consider an essential part of this journey. At the same time, I am well aware that this should serve as nothing more than a reminder to continue contributing in every area where I can make a difference.
The Merco Líderes Uruguay 2025 report was compiled using a methodological approach that draws on 15 information sources, 5 analytical perspectives, and more than 1,300 surveys of executives, financial analysts, journalists, labor unions, NGOs, consumers, and experts in social responsibility and reputation.
The ranking takes into account not only track record and results, but also factors such as:
- Management quality
- Ethics and Responsibility
- Commitment to Innovation
- Strategic Vision
- Communication skills
- Contribution to the country's development
When asked which aspect of the ranking he feels best reflects his career (ethics, innovation, communication, leadership, social impact), Mangarelli replied:
Leadership, because if we define leadership as “inspiring, guiding, and mobilizing a group of people so that, as a team, they can achieve a shared vision and common goals while fostering an environment of trust and collaboration,” then all other dimensions are encompassed within it.
