“This means we have achieved an international seal of quality, which guarantees that our graduates meet a professional profile aligned with the highest standards in the region,” said Dr. Nora Szasz, associate dean for academic affairs at the School of Engineering.
Recognition throughout Latin America
The ARCU-SUR system fosters mutual recognition among MERCOSUR countries and associated states, facilitating academic mobility, the recognition of degrees, and professional trust.
“This recognition is among the highest in Latin America and reinforces the university’s standing as a regional center of excellence,” added Dr. André Fonseca, academic coordinator of the programs.
A rigorous and enriching process
The accreditation was granted following a process that lasted several months and included an internal self-assessment and a visit by international academic peers. Over the course of three days, they reviewed curricula, infrastructure, and research, and conducted interviews with faculty, students, and administrators.
On September 17, 2025, the Institute for the Accreditation and Evaluation of Higher Education (INAEET) confirmed the accreditation of both degree programs.
Aspects evaluated
The international peer reviewers examined multiple dimensions:
- Up-to-date and relevant curricula.
- Quality and dedication of the faculty.
- State-of-the-art laboratory facilities and technological resources.
- Research and Innovation Output.
- Links with industry and the business sector.
“The goal was to ensure that students receive a comprehensive education that is directly aligned with the real-world demands of the professional world, ”Fonseca explained.
Key strengths
Among the program’s strengths, the evaluators highlighted the continuous improvement of the curricula, the alignment between the training provided and the expected professional profile, as well as the quality of the technological infrastructure. They also emphasized the importance of applied research and industry partnerships, which position both programs as regional leaders.
Pride and recognition for the faculty
This is the third time these programs have received ARCU-SUR accreditation.
“More than just institutional recognition, it is international validation of our quality and academic leadership, ”Szasz said.
For students, this means the assurance of receiving an education backed by international standards. For graduates, it is a mark of prestige that enhances their employability and reinforces the value of their degree throughout the region.
