
Over the course of three days, the event aimed to strengthen the connection between students and the professional world by creating opportunities for interaction and exchange. In total, more than 5,000 students participated in the event’s various activities.
Universidad ORT Uruguay Employment Month
For the past 21 years, the School of Engineering has held its traditional Job Fair, a key event for fostering ties with the professional sector.
This year marks the first edition of Employment Month, an initiative that expands the original program to include three job fairs and brings in the School of Communication, the School of Design, the School of Architecture, and the School of Business and Social Sciences.
Thanks to its track record and continued popularity among students and graduates, this year’s event featured three days of activities involving all the schools, thereby establishing a joint university initiative to support career placement.
This is an opportunity to take your first step in your career.
Each session was designed specifically for each school, offering content, companies, and activities tailored to different professional fields, with the goal of enabling students and graduates to connect with companies and explore opportunities, while providing their contact information for future job openings.
The participating companies presented their proposals at creative and interactive booths, which helped raise awareness of the various job opportunities available in each field.
In total, 75 companies and institutions participated in the event, setting a record in the history of Employment Month at the School of Engineering.
Faculty of Engineering
October 23 | Downtown Campus (1451 Cuareim)
The first day of Employment Month was dedicated to students and graduates of the School of Engineering.
Companies in the technology and industrial sectors presented their projects and job opportunities, sharing with participants the trends that are shaping the industry.
The event included forums for direct exchange and professional advice, fostering connections between students and graduates with a background in technology and leading organizations in the sector.
Some of the companies and organizations that attended the event included Scanntech, Qubika, Sabre, TCS, Light-it, SONDA, CIEMSA, LUMIN, and Conaprole, among others.
School of Communication and School of Design

The second day brought together students and graduates from the School of Communication and the School of Design, who had the opportunity to explore opportunities and strengthen professional ties with companies and organizations in the sector.
Through booths, interactive activities, and talks, participants were able to learn about various career paths and the skills most in demand in a constantly evolving job market.
Some of the companies that participated in this event included El Observador, Grupo Sarandí, Montevideo COMM, Grupo Punto, VML, the Uruguayan Advertising Circle, the Uruguayan Chamber of Design, Women in Games Uruguay, Movimagen, and Musitelli, among others.
This allowed companies to interact directly with young talent and key candidates.
School of Management and Social Sciences and School of Architecture

Employment Month concluded with a joint event organized by the School of Management and Social Sciences and the School of Architecture, held in the new Business School building.

During the event, students, graduates, and companies shared experiences and discussed job placement opportunities, with the aim of building trusting relationships and fostering collaboration between the academic world and the business sector.
Some of the companies in attendance included Zonamerica, PwC, KPMG, Santander, BDO, L’Oréal, Uruguay XXI, Endeavor, Trafigura, and Contract Workplaces, along with public organizations and firms in the construction sector such as Bauten, Nova, and Sureste Construcciones.
In addition, the conference featured hands-on workshops:
- “Come get your LinkedIn photo”: an opportunity to create a professional image that strengthens your online presence. A total of 210 students participated.
- “LinkedIn: Your Professional Digital Identity”: Tips for improving your presence and career opportunities on LinkedIn.
- “Personal Branding for Freelancers”: Strategiesfor building your personal brand and establishing yourself in a competitive job market.
- “Job Search: A Q&A Session”: Answers to questions about the entire job search process, from your resume to the interview.

Synergies between academia and the private sector
At the same time, a networking coffee eventwas held with representatives from companies across various sectors, attended by leaders in talent, innovation, and human resources from different industries.
The goal was to strengthen ties between the university and the business community by creating a forum for open discussion on current labor market trends and the entry of new professionals into the workforce.
During the meeting, the companies shared their views on the skills most highly valued in young talent, as well as opportunities for collaboration with the university on initiatives such as internships, projects, and academic activities.

This initiative is part of ORT’s commitment to providing education that is tailored to the real-world needs of the professional environment, as well as to building bridges that foster the development of its students and graduates.
In this context, the Employment Month events reaffirmed Universidad ORT Uruguay commitment Universidad ORT Uruguay employability, professional development, and the integration of the academic world with the workforce.
