This conference, part of the program for the preservation and promotion of the cultural heritage of Latin American countries, was organized by the Italian-Latin American Institute.
Furthermore, the main objective of the conference wasto enhance the area around Pérez Castellano Street through initiatives aimed at pedestrianization, restoration, and repurposing certain buildings, based on the development of proposals.
The conference took place from July 12 to 16, 2004, at the Mercosur Building.
The event was supported by the University of Ferrara, the National Directorate of Land Use Planning of the Ministry of Housing, and the Office of the President of the Eastern Republic of Uruguay.
It was funded by the Directorate General for Development Cooperation of the Italian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The dean of the School of Architecture, Architect Gastón Boero, participated in the opening of the conference alongside the dean of the School of Architecture at the University of the Republic, Prof. Salvador Schelotto, and the dean of the School of Architecture at the University of Ferrara, Prof. Paolo Ceccarelli.
