Winners of the 22nd edition of the "Design Your Room" Contest

The School of Architecture at the University of the South ( Universidad ORT Uruguay ) announced the winners of the 22nd edition of the “Design Your Room” contest, open to 10th- and 11th-grade students.

First Prize: " The Upside-Down Room," by Ulises Chapuis

The first prize was awarded to Ulises Chapuis, from Sagrada Familia Salto, for his project "Inverted Room".

With his proposal, Ulises was awarded a 100% scholarship to pursue a Architecture program or the Bachelor’s Degree in Interior Design at the School of Architecture of the Universidad ORT Uruguay.

Second and third prizes: *Un solo espacio*, by Emma Kupferschmidt, and *Módulo*, by Felipe Amorín

Second prize was awarded to Emma Kupferschmidt, from the German School, for her project A Single Space.

The third prize, meanwhile, was awarded to Felipe Amorín, from the Crandon Institute, for his project Module.

Both received a 50% scholarship to pursue a degree in architecture or a bachelor's degree in interior design at the Universidad ORT Uruguay.

Special mentions

Three special mentions were also awarded to the following students:

  • Pilar Marrero, from the Montevideo Pre-University Institute, for Every Meter Counts.
  • April Julia Da Rosa, from San Isidro School, for *Dimora*.
  • Florencia Veltri Dacal, from La Mennais School, for Oasis.

Additional prizes

In addition to the scholarships awarded to the top three finishers, the six selected students—including those who received honorable mentions—each received a 100% scholarship to take the course Architectural Projects Using BIM Methodology at the School of Architecture.

In Design Your Room, participants submit design and furnishing proposals for a personal space intended for rest, leisure, and study, based on a real or imaginary room. In this 22nd edition of the contest, a total of 102 design project entries were received, submitted by students from various educational institutions in Uruguay.
