An opportunity built over the years
This selection represents the fulfillment of a goal toward which the student in the Bachelor’s Degree in International Studies has been preparing for years.
As she explained, she had known about the scholarship for some time, and several of the activities she undertook during her studies were aimed at strengthening her future application. For her, this achievement is a special recognition of her effort and her commitment to public service and the opportunity to help bring about change.
An academic experience in four countries
The tour will begin on October 12 in Colombia and will continue in Spain, where it will remain for approximately one month. Afterward, the program will move on to Mexico and conclude in Brazil. In addition to the academic sessions, the program includes various activities and experiences, including the Camino de Santiago during its time in Spain.
The opportunity to visit four countries, gain new knowledge, and connect with other people was part of what motivated her to apply. Added to this is a personal goal: the student is a member of an organization and hopes that her knowledge and contacts she gains during the program will open up new opportunities and help expand that project.
Since his training in the field of International Relations, one of his main interests has been regional integration. However, he highlighted the broad scope of the program, which incorporates topics related to health, education, and urbanization. In particular, he also hopes to delve deeper into urban planning and study phenomena such as hostile architecture from a public service perspective.
The role of the university in their education
A native of Salto, the student highlighted the university’s role in providing access to opportunities she had not previously known existed. During her academic career, she was able to participate in an exchange program and work as a teaching assistant, research assistant, and mentor. These experiences, she noted, provided her with tools and opened doors that proved essential to her academic and personal development.
The student hopes to return from this experience with new knowledge that she can apply in Uruguay, but also with a network of connections built during the trip. She particularly highlighted her interactions with skilled, active individuals committed to the public good, and believed that building these kinds of networks can strengthen cooperation and help drive future change.
